Treyarch Reveals How Long Call of Duty: Black Ops 6's Campaign Will Be (2025)

Developer Treyarch recently discussed how long Call of Duty: Black Ops 6's story missions will take to beat, and the answer may surprise fans of the decades-old franchise. This news follows other major reveals about Black Ops 6 during the 2024 Xbox Games Showcase, where developers confirmed several tweaks and changes to the Call of Duty formula.

While the release of each new Call of Duty title has been on a yearly basis for the last several installments, excitement regarding Black Ops 6 is palpable, with many hoping Treyarch will provide fans with a satisfying experience. Multiplayer is a given with any Call of Duty, but Black Ops 6's campaign mode is being advertised as a major component of the game, with Treyarch sharing more details about the upcoming title during the Xbox Games Showcase and its Black Ops Direct. Treyarch recently confirmed when Black Ops 6's story takes place, revealing an official Black Ops timeline that included previous entries in the series as well. Now, it sheds light into how long Black Ops 6's campaign mode will take to complete.

Per Game File, Treyarch developer Yale Miller says Black Ops 6's campaign mode is similar in length to classic Call of Duty titles. If this statement is anything to go off of, then players can expect to put in around eight hours into Black Ops 6's campaign. However, past Treyarch titles like 2012's Black Ops 2 featured multiple endings in their campaigns. It's unclear if Treyarch plans to do the same in Black Ops 6, but if so, then players can expect to put in even more hours if they wish to see each ending.

Miller also discussed the types of missions players will encounter in Black Ops 6, saying, "I think a big goal for us all is just to give players the opportunity to be smart, where you’re not just taking them on this journey the whole time, where they have the opportunity to explore and decide how they want to get through a situation." Like all Call of Duty titles, multiplayer will also play a big part in Black Ops 6, with Treyarch significantly tweaking movement and gunplay. Black Ops 6's first official trailer gave fans a look at these new gameplay changes, as well as a glimpse into the game's story and Zombies.

Alongside campaign and multiplayer, Black Ops 6 will continue Call of Duty's long-running Zombies mode. This game mode has become just as much a staple of the Call of Duty brand as multiplayer, originally starting as a simple Easter egg found within Call of Duty: World at War. Since then, Treyarch and co. have developed and nurtured Zombies into a deeply rewarding undead-slaying experience, complete with breathtaking visuals and an incredibly complicated and deep storyline. This story continues in Black Ops 6, with a new squad being introduced. Black Ops 6 will launch with two new round-based Zombies maps, with the mode set to receive significant support post-launch.
