Hospital. A funeral service will be held Thursday, Feb. 7, 2019, at 11 a.m. at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m.

at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home. Lynette Neal was born Nov. 2, 1946, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Jack and Lucille Neal. She graduated from Hamilton Business College. She was a real estate agent in Cedar Rapids for several years.

She owned her own bread distribution business and worked with local grocery stores. She loved playing bingo at St. and in Tama, and hanging out with her bingo buddies. She especially loved spending time with her family and many grandchildren. Survivors include her husband, Mark; four children, Jeff (Andy) Svoboda, Robyn Miner (Josh Havlik), Brad (Dianna) Svoboda and Brett Neal (Rudeee Miller); nine grandchildren, Mandy and Nicole Miner, Nakia and Isaiah Svoboda, Zach and Allison Svoboda and Madison, Morgan and Emily Neal; and one sister, Jackie Dewitt.

5, 2019, at the funeral home, conducted by the Rev. Mike Morgan. Burial: Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion. DORIS TEMPLER Cedar Rapids Doris Jeanne Doolittle Templer, 92, of Cedar Rapids, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2019, at West Ridge Care Center.

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, 2019, at St. Jude Catholic Church, by the Rev. Mark Murphy.

Private inurnment is at a later date. Friends may visit with the family on Friday, Feb. 8, 2019, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Teahen Funeral Home, and on Saturday after 10 a.m. at the church.

Doris is survived by her children, Shareen (Sherry) Melvin (John Kaylor), Clyde Melvin (Sue Mihal) and Debra Schoneman (Kirk Schatzle), all of Cedar Rapids, Pamela (Doug) Mollenhauer of Pleasant Hill and Gene Templer of Solon; her grandchildren, Dawn Scranton, Michael (Melissa) Scranton, Matthew (Sarah) Melvin, Scott (Holly) Mihal, Kelly Mihal, Claire Schatzle (Chris Kelleher), Andrew Schoneman, Maggie (Charles) Mollenhauer, Jacob Schoneman, Jerod Mollenhauer and Lindsey Mollenhauer; her great-grandchildren, Tristan, John, Sidonia, Tanner, Cael, Avari and Kiera; as well as her nieces and one nephew. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Velma; her husbands, Charles Melvin and Fredric Templer; her sister, Enid (Clifford) Claude; former son- in-law, Nels Scranton; son-in-law, George Schoneman; grandson-in-law, Tim Long; and grandson, Heath Mihal. Doris was born on April 12, 1926, in Webster City, the daughter of Clyde and Velma Behrendsen Doolittle. After high school, she furthered her education and was a Western Union operator in Detroit and New York during World War II, a homemaker, and later worked for Paramount Pharmacy and the Cedar Rapids school system. Doris was married to Charles Melvin and, after his death, was married to Fredric Templer for 62 years.

She was a member the Daughters of the American Revolution, Hawk A Model-A Ford Club, AACA Car Club, Eagles Club and St. Jude Catholic Church since 1964. Doris liked to garden, read, bake, knit, crotchet and dance. She enjoyed music, attending car club events, playing games and spending time with her family and friends. Doris will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

The family would like to thank the staff at Memory Care Village, West Ridge Care Center and Hospice of Mercy for the care they gave Doris. Memorials may be directed to the family. JEREMY LEE DAHL Cedar Rapids Jeremy Lee Dahl, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Oak Grove, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 24, 2019 at the age of 47.

Honoring wishes, he will be cremated. A time to celebrate, share and remember the life of Jeremy will be held on Saturday, Feb. 9, at 11 a.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Another gathering will be held in Andover, on Feb.

16, at Bunker Hills Activity Center from 2 to 5 p.m. and then a Celebration of Life also is planned for later in the spring. Jeremy was born May 31, 1971, in Independence, Iowa, to Margaret (Woodward) and Roland Dahl. He graduated from Anoka High School in Anoka, in 1989. His career included 20 years of construction, co-owning a siding business and most recently working with his dad and brother at Roscoe Painting.

Jeremy was preceded in death by his grandmother, Bea Johansen; aunt, Suzi Woodward; and uncles, Mark and Mike Woodward. favorite activities were spending time with his family, and attending their sporting events and activities. He was very proud of them; they were the joy of his life. Jeremy was an avid sports fan and diehard Vikings fan and really enjoyed ice fishing.

Jeremy was a wonderful, fun loving father, son, brother and friend, with a gentle soul and kind heart. He touched the lives of many and will be missed. JOAN MARIE OELTJEN Marion Joan Marie Oeltjen, 86, of Marion, Iowa, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, Jan. 27, 2019, under Hospice Care at Linn Manor Care Center in Marion, Iowa. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, 2019, at Murdoch Funeral Home Cremation Service, Marion.

Memorial service: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, 2019, at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, Marion, conducted by Pastor Miranda Klosterboer. Joan was born on Dec. 19, 1932, in Galveston, Texas, the daughter of Scott and Elizabeth (Collerain) Williams.

Joan was the oldest child of a large family of two brothers and five sisters. The family lived in various towns around Texas and eventually moved to Oakland, where Joan graduated from El Cerrito High School. She took some Junior College classes and did some modeling. Joan found full-time work with Bell Telephone Co. Joan was married in California to Eustace Bellinger.

Together they had three children, Thomas, Valerie and Shauna. She later married Marlin Oeltjen on June 26, 1987. Together, they have 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Joan loved her family and enjoyed getting them together for family activities. After her family was raised, Joan worked in accounting and tax preparation.

She later worked for Linn County Abstract Company for over 20 years and retired in 1997. Joan was an advocate for and rights. She often would go out in the middle of the night to rescue a woman and her children from an abusive situation finding them a safe place to stay before she returned home. Joan volunteered for numerous organizations including Planned Parenthood, Amnesty International, YWCA Shelter, Prairiewoods Spiritual Center and was an active member at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection. Joan loved sports and watched them on TV and in person.

She and Marlin traveled to Iowa Hawkeyes football games, including some bowl games. She loved to go to Kernels baseball games in the summer. Joan and Marlin traveled all over the United States by car, bus, train and plane. They took several trips to Hawaii and enjoyed a trip to France for their 25th wedding anniversary. Joan is survived by her husband, Marlin Oeltjen; son, Thomas (Margaret) Bellinger; daughters, Valerie (Bill) Hanson and Shauna (Jonathan) Meier; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two stepsons; and two step- grandchildren; three sisters; and a brother.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters; one brother; and an aunt. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in memory be given to Lutheran Church of the Resurrection or the Madge Phillips Center-Waypoint in Cedar Rapids. RANDY L. NELSON Cedar Rapids Randy L. Nelson, 65, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Sunday, Jan. 27, 2019, surrounded by his family at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, following a lengthy battle with cancer. Per wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 8, 2019, at Hope Lutheran Church, 2736 Bowling St. SW, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, followed by a time for sharing memories. Private burial will be at Linwood Cemetery at a later date.

He graduated from Jefferson High School in Cedar Rapids. Randy worked as the warehouse manager at Terry- Durin Co.

during his 47-year career. He loved Harleys and his old Indian motorcycle. Randy also loved the outdoors. He was very artistic and a skilled wood carver. Randy was a jokester with a soft heart.

He always was willing to help others and enjoyed putting a smile on face. Survivors include his siblings, Sheila (John) Gillick of Faribault, Diana Nelson Thomsen of Cedar Rapids, Richard (Betty) Nelson of Cedar Rapids, Robert (Allison) Nelson of Mankato, and Russell Nelson of Cedar Rapids; several nieces and nephews; his special family at Terry-Durin and his canine companion, Scout. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hardy and Ann Nelson; and grandparents, William and Theresa Moritz. The family would like to extend a special thank-you to the ICU physicians and staff at Mercy Medical Center. Memorials may be directed to the family.

Sondra was born Feb. 25, 1942, the daughter of Delmar and Marie (Deal) Snover in Des Moines, Iowa. She was married to Lyle Reece Broer on April 9, 1963, in Des Moines. Sondra was an excellent bridge player and would play for charity and fun. She would sit down and play a game with anyone and everyone.

She often would come home and say, "I had a terrible time. giving up bridge for the day." Sondra was a member of the Red Hat Society and a founding member of Christ Community United Methodist Church. She served on several nonprofit boards for low-income housing. Sondra was a loyal friend and loving wife, mother and grandmother. Survivors include her husband, Lyle Broer; two sons, Eric (Stephanie) Broer and Chad (Ashley) Broer; five grandchildren, John, Cameron, Ella, Jayna and Macey; three brothers, Mike (Nancy) Snover, Barry (Christi) Snover and Bob (Debby) Snover; and sister, Vicki Purcell.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Laura Broer; and her parents. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for a charitable cause in memory of Sondra. and celebration of life at 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 4 at the United Methodist Church, 207 E. Clark Fayette, Iowa. A luncheon will be provided following the service.

Barb will be interned at Lima Church Cemetery at a later date. Barbara is survived by her husband, Keith Rowley; children, Lori (Shawn) LaCarte, Todd (Richard) Rowley and Keith (Jana) Rowley; grandchildren and great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Louis McEnroe and Gordon Mullin; sister, Dixie Waters; and parents, Ivan and Luella Mullin. Barbara was born on Dec. 12, 1938.

Barb and Keith were high school sweethearts and were united in marriage on July 19, 1958. Barb earned her degree at the Teachers College in Cedar Falls. Barb was one of the first Head Start teachers in the state. She also taught at Cedar Heights Elementary School and preschool in Epworth. Barb later worked in food service at Upper Iowa University.

She began her role as the activities director at Maple Crest Manor in the mid-1970s and retired in June of 1999. Barb enjoyed her many friends and service groups. She also loved spending sunny days on the river fishing with Keith. Memorials may be made to the Grace Meyer Memorial Scholarship or Fayette Public Library. 2019 The azette.
