hey I saw a F4 on hwy 9 when I was riding with two SVs yesterday. I'm guessing it was one of you because otherwise you'd have a total of 5 riders on that ride...

MV's are great bikes, and very beautiful, but once you start bragging about their performance, you should know that any one of the main 4 Jap. liter bikes takes performance to another level. The MV's are not even in the same class as any one of the 4 factories. The MV's are handcrafted, beautiful, dressed with expensive equipment and all, but lack the raw performance and race proven designs of the main 4. You cannot compete with the factories that dish out millions on R&D each year in their race programs. So when I hear someone say 'you cannot describe the performance and feel of an MV..." it makes me laugh, because I do know the feeling. My 'run of the mill copycutter R1' outperforms these bikes. These are not just me running my mouth, you can read the many comparisons out there.
Anyway, just throwing my 2 cents in. Not hatin' on the MV's as they are amazing bikes too, but I get a little sick of being looked down on because of the amount of money I spent on my bike. Peace!

i totally agree, japanese liter bikes would kill a MV
I don't think anyone was looking down on other bikes, except there was some jealously towards MVs etc........
And yes your right.......R1s, GSXR1k, ZX1k, 1000rrs would all smoke any of those MV Agusta 750s shown in the pics.
However if i was to play magazine jockey, there have been several reviews in various magazines (mainly biased european bike mags) where the new MV 1000 beat R1s or other liter bikes in comparison tests.
Of course there is no comparison in price. a new Japanese 1000cc costs $10k, where as a 1000cc MV Agusta costs $23-25k
And yes for $13-15k in mods, you could totally trick out a japanese liter bike to kill the MV........but that is a different story.
Same reasoning, a $50k corvette z06 will run with a $175k Ferrari 360 modena....... a corvette with $125k in mods will kill a Modena..... I would still rather have the Modena anyday.

I was not comparing an MV 750, I was comparing the new 1000cc!
And if you were to play correct 'magazine jockey', you would know the MV 1000 was nowhere near the performance of any one of the 4. I have read this in both European and U.S. based magazines. However, these are not the only sources I know this from. Having spoken with street/track riders who have ridden/owned both, and their conclusions are all on par with the magazines. Again, I am not hatin' on the bikes or their riders, I just wanted to clear up misconceptions floating around.
It's cool you are so into your brand of bike. Even if money was no object, I would still choose to ride an R1. That is how content I am with it. Just dont feel so threatened when not all is in praise of your bike. Some criticism can be helpful.

Good points.
I am a bit of a magazine whor* myself and often enjoy snuggling up with a good glossy rag to drop the kids off at the pool with--however I often have to remind myself that even the 'unbiased' reviews are baised.
I tend to form an opinion on a bike based on 1) Reviews 2) Owner testimonials and 3) Most importantly, performance on the racetrack. i.e. Championships, podiums whatever.
It is always good to see what a bike can do in the hands of a good pilot.
So in a sense, the MV is unproven in my mind.

..............unlike those Ducati 748's....which are virtually maintenance free! J/K
I can't find a printout of one.....but I seem to remember an MV dealer that I know telling me that one of the new 1000's did something stupid like 171rwhp...corrected. I am not sure what model, I gave up following the Tamborini, Mamba, Agostini, Serie Oro, Humpalotabagina.......got too hard to remember which one was which....but the shop does race and usually they put out farily accurate dyno readings.....I may be wrong about the actual number....but I remember that it blasted what we are getting here on new ZX10r's. Not that it matters....ride what ya like.

Not to disrespect any MV Agusta owner out there. But I think in my opinion MV Agusta is an over rated bike (maybe that'snot the word I'm looking for). I don't think they can out perform any 1K Japanese Sportsbike. People buy MV Agusta because they are probably one of the most "BEAUTIFUL" bike was ever built out o the crate and because they can. MV Agusta also make turn people's head. MV Agusta are not a mass produce bike like Japanese sportsbike so you may not see them ofen on your nearest Starbucks hang out. And most of all, they are Italian made, people are crazy about things that are made in Italy. As for sound, I'd rather hear a Ducati Superbike with dry clutch and all that.....
So if you can afford an Agusta, then go for it, but you can't really say that there nothing like it when you ride it. I think it's really just riding another sporstbike.
Again this is just my 2 cents.

when the MV comes down the block, people of all walks of life and ages stop and look. when the jap bike comes down the block, no one notices. i used to think japanesse bikes where great too, I owned one, and considered owning others, and would get one for the track if I raced. It's not about who is the ultimate fastest racer x bike, it's simply a higher quality machine, a higher quality riding experience, a higher level of enjoyment. it cant be explained to someone who aint been on one. just like the thrill of a Ferrari Enzo cant be explained. the sound, the feel, the look, the build, the total experience is what makes it.
you want to drive a supra twin turbo or a lamborghini? i'll take the lamb.

I love mv's!
However, you can't compare them to enzo's or lamborghini's. Those are pure performance machines that happen to be pieces of art also.
The mv's are "capable" machines that are purposely built as pieces of art.

ducati, aprilia. Bikes with a proven race history.
I'd compare them more with the Jaguars. High end, luxury, beautiful with great performance. But not the elite performance machines like the enzo or lambo's..

I don't think as much of my MV as Triple Seven thinks of his.
IMO its a great looking bike, but the only people who notice are other riders or maybe guys in sports cars since they know what a MV Agusta is.
To most "normal" people on the street, its just another bike.
Random people do stop and look, so I do get the fair share of compliments. But I also get alot of:
"wow... is that a ducati?"
" wow...Is that the new R1?"
"Agusta...is that one of them german bikes?"
or my favorite.......
"what kind of body kit did you put on your honda?...that looks sick....my friend's, brother's cousin has a F3 and i should tell him about that body kit........"
